The Black Lives Matter movement is “an international human rights movement, originating from within the African-American community, which campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people.” There has been a lot of emotional and physical distress in the United States recently and the wounds are too deep for a bandage.

Music has been a vessel for communicating messages and emotions for thousands of years. It is an ancient art form that has created one of the most valuable sectors in the world. It is an art form that is being used to express how people are feeling right now. Many people are angry, sad, depressed and anxious. These emotions are all okay to feel and resonate amongst the masses. You many not know how to deal with these emotions, or how to help push for positive change and that’s okay. Ask how you can help, make sure you vote in your local elections and stand by your black friends, coworkers, and family.

The music below are songs that speak to what’s going on in the United States right now. This isn’t your typical “Fight The Power” playlist, instead you find a mix of radical and somber messages that tell a story of black oppression. If you have difficulty soaking everything in that is going on in the world, listen closely to the art below. Let the music flow through your soul and accept the story it tells you. #BlackLivesMatter
